A Multiversal OC primarily made for Fire Emblem.
Do be aware that this is a
slimmed-down version of Shaetima's background.
A thief and mercenary for hire that wanders the land in search of both
riches and work. She mainly utilizes shadow magic to accomplish her goals. Often portraying herself as a shrewd woman, she's actually quite playful and not all too serious unless the situation calls for it. She runs a secret guild of thieves and mercenaries as well, whose main goal is to accumulate a wealth of information.Below are specifics for the worlds in FE that she resides in. Of course, being an OC, when we plot or write, the events described in there don't have to be followed to a tee. We can change whatever where necessary.
Though the circumstances of their meeting are different depending on the chosen path, Shaetima joins Corrin as their tactician, helping to guide Corrin's army to achieve whatever goal the dragon wishes to achieve, and with time after truly befriending them, becomes one of Corrin's retainers. Shaetima becomes someone that Corrin can confide in, essentially their right-hand man. Initially, others in Corrin's army seem wary of her, considering her criminal background, but with time, trust begins to bind her and the others.A few more details in the "Origin" tab.
Simply to provide more background on her.
The average person would never know about her past.
Shaetima hails from the era of the First Dragons described in Fates' lore. As a direct descendant of the Dusk Dragon, she was born with dominion over shadows. And in an attempt to gain an upperhand in the war between dragons, she was also blessed with precedence over the timeline, granting her the ability to peer and move through time to witness a possible future. The Dusk Dragon would use this ability to set himself apart, but as with the nature of the current-day Nohr, the Dusk Dragon was callous and brutal in his treatment of others, driving his daughter away.Shaetima would denounce both her allegiance to the Dusk Dragon, as well as her draconic form in an act of defiance. Fleeing from his grasps, she would come to meet the Silent Dragon and fall in line with he and Valla. Befriending Anankos, she would help lead his Vallite forces against the Dusk Dragon, and upon his imminent defeat, Shaetima sealed his power within her own shadow to serve as a prison. Before he could be locked away, he cursed his daughter with a never-ending life. Every time she would encounter death, it would spit her back out into the realm of the living, never granting her its' sweet embrace as penance for the Dusk Dragon's daughter's betrayal. When the war quieted down, Shaetima and Anankos quietly retreated to Valla to live a life of peace. For her efforts, Anankos blessed Shaetima with the gear sigil seen on her book. A representation of her relation with time and an emblem marking her as an honorary Vallite in name, if not blood. Later on, Shaetima foresees Anankos' fall into degeneration and helps him conduct a song that would battle and soothe the effects. The two would teach it to the Vallite royal family, and Shaetima, not wanting to see her friend fall victim to such a fate with her own eyes, leaves Valla.Sometime later, after travelling through the Outrealms, Shaetima returns to the world of Fates in the modern era with a new conviction. She can't run from the future, and especially not when it involves a dear friend's suffering. As much as it would pain her to see him in a state such as that, she finds the one his song speaks of and takes up arms with Corrin, hoping that the path they lead will lead them back to Anankos and grant him the salvation that he silently cries for.
Shaetima is recruited alongside Anna in the paralogue where the merchant is defending villagers from a band of bandits. By pure happenstance, she finds herself in that village passing through when it becomes under attack, taking up arms with the merchant when Shae is attacked for merely being in Anna's company. After the battle, Robin recruits Shaetima into the Shepherds for her skills and prowess on the field, promising a paycheck to entice the thief to come work with them. Soon, the tactician learns of Shaetima's background as a tactician prior to her efforts in the mercenary and thievery business, and becomes someone Robin can naturally talk and refer to about their favorite subject.Lucina and the other kids, however, have no recollection of such a person being associated with the Shepherds in their future, leaving Shaetima to be a mysterious anomaly in the world they came to save...
Shaetima is a mercenary working for the Church of Seiros solely for the paycheck. She doesn't have a care for the religion they follow, which may garner some interest from the House leaders. Before the events of the game, Byleth comes to work with her for a mission and saves her life, leaving Shae to owe her a favor.During the Academy Phase, Shae can be occasionally recruited to assist Byleth's house on missions in combat, or help teach some students about magic.During the War Phase, Shaetima's left the church. Uninterested in their religion, she has no reason to assist them in war for it, even with a paycheck on the line - an interesting line of thought for someone who seems to mostly care about coin alone. Her main involvement in this phase comes by recovering Byleth's body and helping to keep them nice and well until they awake, fulfilling the "favor" that she owes the Professor. Leading them back to the Monastery at their request, Byleth may choose to request Shae come and help them, to which she'll agree to help a friend.Alternatively, Edelgard may recruit Shaetima before the War Phase upon noticing her lack of care for the Church of Seiros, and in that case, will work closely to help lead Edelgard's forces against her enemies. With or without Byleth, Shaetima's tactical cunning proves to be a formiddable force, especially should she happen to go against Byleth in this route. The way Shaetima speaks of the events of the world, regardless of the road taken... it seems like she's seen it all before...

Sleight of Hand - Shaetima's hands are light and quick. Very useful for pickpocketing.
Light-footed - Despite wearing boots, she's quite light on her feet, which makes it easy for her to sneak around.
Miscellaneous Magic - Shaetima is adept in the field of magic, which is rather uncommon for someone of her line of work. She can use a variety of spells. At one point, she used her journal to help her cast them, but became adept enough to not require its use.
឵឵
Noxkinesis - Her main form of "magic," and something she uses on a day-to-day basis for most things she does. Below will be listed her applications of Noxkinesis.
Umbral Warp - Shaetima can step into one shadow and reappear in another shadow within line of sight. She can also choose to remain inside that shadow to hide. When she steps out of a shadow, it seems to drip off of her person, and upon coming into contact with the ground, evaporates into a black mist.
Shade Armory - Shaetima can physically manipulate nearby shadows into physical objects, most often choosing to mimic her opponent's weapon and use it against them, if she doesn't default to her usual dagger. It should be noted that just because she's copied your weapon doesn't mean she's adept with it, unless she has prior experience in using it.
General Weaknesses - Light generally forces Shae out of any shadows she's hiding in, which will in turn stun and daze her. Something more powerful like a flashbang would shatter her shadow constructs.

Typhokinesis - Shaetima's secondary form of magic, Typhokinesis is the ability to conjure and in turn manipulate smoke, fog, or anything of the like. She can passively emit smoke/fog from the edges of her figure and can manipulate it to the point where it makes it difficult for others to breathe. It should be emphasized that this is secondary to her primary magic, and as such, is something she doesn't use often. Below will be listed her applications of Typhokinesis.
Smoke Dash - Evaporating into a fine mist, Shaetima can dash forwards a short distance and re-emerge from it, often used as a way to dodge attacks. She can use this to travel through vents, but generally prefers not to.
Smoke Shot - From her hand, Shaetima can conjure condensed smoke and launch it at an enemy. Light in damage, it's mainly used to force defensive options in order to retreat or advance. A direct headshot would cause issues for someone breathing, causing them to sputter and gasp for air. --- A small variation of this technique named "Smokescreen," Shae can emit an explosive burst of fog from her person that enshrouds the entire area, obscuring vision.
Aero Drain - The only technique purely related to air that she's adept in, Shaetima can force the air to blow in her direction for a very small amount of time. It's more or less useless until she focuses it in on a target, where she yanks the air from their lungs, causing the target to become immediately winded and paralyzed as they attempt to breathe again.
General Weaknesses - Anything air-based could clear out her smoke and drastically reduce the effective range of her Smokeshots. Windy days, of course, would cause her smoke to blow away, but they could also cause her Smokeshots to move faster, should she be firing with the wind. --- Aero Drain doesn't exactly work if the target actively has no air in their lungs for her to pull out. Timing one's breathing just makes it entirely useless.

Fusion Spell, "Shadestep" - Shaetima can sidestep and leave behind a shadowy clone. If an attack collides with it, it'll burst into a cloud of smoke, which she can in turn manipulate.
